It is important that our Supporters realize that Southwest Sprinters Track Club is affliated with the USA Track and Field (USATF) organization. As such, dollars donated to this club ultimately help promote the mission of the overall organization. USATF is the National Governing Body for track and field in the United States. USATF encompasses the world's oldest organized sports, the most-watched events of Olympic broadcasts, the #1 high school and junior high school participatory sport and more than 30 million adult runners in the United States. USATF is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing vision and leadership to the sport of track and field in the United States, and promoting the pursuit of excellence from youth to masters, from grass roots to the Olympic Games.
Nearly 100,000 Americans are members of USATF. Our member organizations include the U.S. Olympic Committee, NCAA, NAIA, Road Runners Club of America, Running USA and the National Federation of State High School Associations. Fifty-seven USATF Associations oversee the sport and its 2,500 clubs at the local level.
Southwest Sprinters Track Club is one of those 2500 clubs, but we stand out! We are uniquely positioned and recognized as one of the top teams within USATF. And we're leading by example on and off the track. One of our members, Dexter McCloud, is now serving as USATF's first chair of the Masters Committee on Diversity. The mission of this committee is charged with developing and implementing diversity within Masters Track Clubs. Our strengths on and off the track, our exposure within the US and abroad, our dedication to excellence, and positive support for the novice to the elite athlete is a winning combination for our Supporters.
